Music has this incredible way of instantly being able to take us back to a moment, a place, or a time. Whether that be through the lyrics of a song, or the song itself is held to that memory.
A Song And A Story is a place for people to share these stories, with this post coming from the lovely Tarryn.
Last month, I recently did a song and story memories with my friends and family on Facebook. Music has always been a huge part of my life, so I have loads of memories that are associated with songs. Whenever I hear Tina Arena, I always think of one of my cousins who passed away when I was 13. He was quite a bit older than me and a real ‘bloke’ but he loved Tina Arena and we always used to tease him. Whenever I hear Linkin Park or Limp Bizkit, it takes me back to high school. But one specific memory is the song I want to know what love is, by Foreigner. I’m a very competitive person & my middle brother is not, at all. One night while away on family holiday, we were having sing star battles, there were 2 teams, which my brother and I were the captains of. It came to the final song to decide the winner and that song was chosen. The both of us absolutely sung our hearts out. We were both going ao hard, we ended up bursting into laughter and totally losing it right at the end. I’ll never forget it.
