Sightseers is a British black comedy, that in my opinion is pretty damn great.
The film follows couple Tina and Chris as they go on their first holiday together touring the English countryside in a caravan.
There is no hiding that the couple are slightly odd, but their “quirks,” i guess you could call them that, soon become murderous as they try and right the interruptions to their “perfect” holiday.
The film has a steady pace that gives well to the slow countryside roadtrip theme of the film. It also adds space and a atmosphere that allows for the couple and their actions to get under your skin.
It perfectly executes the bringing together of a offbeat comedy and a dark thriller without compromising on the quality of either genre. It is both shockingly brutal, whilst still being funny, often in a way that can make you feel uncomfortable and questioning yourself a little.
It truly is the best of British.
