I’m a seasoned stay at homer.
Not only that, but after my accident i probably stayed in one room for about 4mth, only went outside 2 weeks later and didn’t leave the hospital grounds for 5.
For 10 weeks i was quite literally chained to a bed and was unable to move, at all.
The hospital had these special TVs that had been donated and they flipped so you could see them.
It was during this time when i found a real escape in TV and film and my whole day revolved around my TV schedule.
Now i know most of you aren’t stuck in your bed during this time, (shout out to my friends with chronic illness that know this struggle) but i thought i would share with you some of my favourite reality shows so that you can escape reality.
Disclaimer: i won’t lie, they’re all complete trash, but sometimes it’s just what you need.
First, do yourself the biggest favour and download hayu, even if it’s just for the month free trail, you’ll find most of my recommendations there.
First up is The Real Housewives.
Now there are many different franchises of the real housewives, and many hundreds of episodes, but the ones in particular i recommend are.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
The first few seasons are my favourite ever, there’s a season or 2 where it dips a little, but keep going, it always bounces back.
The Real Housewives of New York
Honestly, sometimes this one gives me a headache, Sonja and Ramona are both iconic, but they make me dizzy.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta
The lies, the lies, the lies… you’ll understand a whole load more of sayings if you watch this one.
The Real Housewives of Potomac
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first 2 seasons of this, but 3 & 4, wow! Watch, then immediately contact me and tell me if Michael smacked that ass.
The Real Housewives of Dallas
This is the newest housewives to me, and the drama.. I’m currently binge watching this one myself.
Next up is 90 day fiance.
Again there’s a number of branch off programmes with this, and they’re all fantastic.
So there is the OG, 90 day fiance, 90 day fiance: before the the 90 days, 90 day fiance: happily ever after? And 90 day fiance: where are they now.
This show follows couples going through a visa process in the US. The visa gives international couples 90 days to get married once their partner arrives in America.
It’s a fascinating watch, filled with love and lots and lots of drama. There are definitely couples that you are suspicious about their intentions, but there are also a lot of really lovely genuine ones.
This is one rabbit hole you’ll lose a whole month too.
This follows a group of servers that work for Lisa Vanderpump, the OG of the real housewives of Beverley Hills.
Growing up i thought life and friendship would be exactly like it was in friends, this is what it’s actually like.
Whilst you avoid your real friends insert yourself in this incredibly dysfunctional group.
Shahs of Sunset
So admittedly I’m way behind on this, it disappeared off the telly here in the UK a couple of years ago, but i jumped right back in when i downloaded hayu.
It follows a group of Persian American friends. They have big personalities and big opinions that they’re not afraid to share.
I didn’t know i was going to love this show as much as i did.
It follows the lives and careers of female wrestlers. Although the WWE are involved its less like the story lines you see there and more like a traditional reality show.
However, you really do get a insight in the passion, hard work and athleticism in wrestling.
Do share your reality show musts in the comments.
