In doing this Sunday recommendation i have come to realise how many of my films fit into very similar categories.
I’ve also become aware of how many films there are with people trapped in a house.
When i started this I wanted to mostly share films many would have missed as they were smaller films or weren’t given much of a audience.
However, with everyone being home i want the films i recommend to be easily accessible.
So, for now, I’ll be recommending films you can find easily on Sky, Nowtv, Netflix or Amazon Prime.
With that, this weeks recommendation is, Instant Family.
I’ll be honest when I first put this on i wasn’t expecting much, but it turned out to be a really funny and incredibly heartwarming joy.
The film follows Pete and Ellie who decide to become foster parents. They soon find themselves opening their home to 3 very sprightly children. We watch as they navigate the highs and lows of both being a foster parent, and a child/teen within in the system.
Whilst being a funny and quite lighthearted take on the foster care system, i feel like it gives quite a open and balanced look at the ups and downs.
It doesn’t shy away from the difficulties that many in this process may face, and doesn’t just put forward a generic, straightforward, happy Hollywood version.
A really lovely film that will make you smile, possibly shed a tear, and make you really grateful for your family, no matter how it came to be.
Enjoy x
You can find Instant Family on Sky, AmazonPrime and Now TV.
